1. Who we are
PlayDates (playdates.club) is a location-based family networking service operated by its founder. Our sole purpose is to help parents in the same neighborhood find each other and arrange playdates for their children.
2. What information we collect
We collect only what is necessary to make the service work:
- Phone number — used for identity verification via one-time code. Never shown publicly.
- Name and bio — displayed on your public profile to help other parents learn about your family.
- Address and zip code — used to calculate distance to nearby families. Your street address is never shown to other users; only your city and state are displayed.
- Children's first names and ages — shown to matched families to help coordinate playdates. Never shown publicly before a mutual match.
- Interests and availability — shown on your profile to help families find compatible matches.
- Profile photo — optional. Shown on your profile if you choose to upload one.
- Messages — stored securely and only accessible to the two parties in a conversation.
3. What we do not collect
- No photos of children
- No payment or financial information
- No device tracking or advertising identifiers
- No browsing history or third-party data
4. How we use your information
Your information is used exclusively to operate PlayDates:
- To verify your identity at sign-up
- To show your profile to nearby families
- To deliver playdate requests and messages between matched families
- To display distance-based search results
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond connecting families.
5. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, license, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for commercial purposes. This is a core principle of PlayDates, not just a legal commitment.
6. Who can see your information
- Anyone on PlayDates can see your name, city/state, bio, kids' ages (not names), interests, and availability.
- Only matched families can see your children's names and send you messages.
- Your phone number and street address are never shown to other users.
- Our admin team may access account details to verify addresses for the Verified badge or to resolve reported safety issues.
7. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Twilio — to deliver your phone verification code via SMS. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio for this purpose only.
- Cloudflare — for hosting, content delivery, and data storage. Data is stored in Cloudflare's secure infrastructure.
Neither service is authorized to use your data for their own marketing or commercial purposes under our agreements with them.
8. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard, which permanently removes your profile, requests, and message history.
9. Children's privacy
PlayDates is intended for use by parents and guardians (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Information about children (names, ages) is entered by and belongs to the parent or guardian account holder.
10. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information via your profile
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time
- Contact us with any privacy concerns
