How PlayDates protects you

We built safety into the platform from the start:

Mutual matching required

You can only message a family after both sides accept the connection. No cold contact, no unsolicited messages.

Phone verification

Every account is tied to a verified phone number. This creates accountability and helps us act quickly on reports.

Verified badge

Families with the green Verified badge have had their address manually reviewed by our team — an extra layer of trust.

No children's photos

PlayDates never asks for or stores photos of children. Profile photos are of parents only.

Address privacy

Your street address is never shown to other users. Only your city and state are visible on your public profile.

Tips for a safe first playdate

Meet in a public place first — a park, library, or coffee shop is ideal for a first meetup.
Tell someone where you're going — let a friend or family member know your plans.
Take your time — there's no rush. Exchange a few messages, do a video call if you like, before meeting in person.
Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it's okay to decline or cancel. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
Keep your home address private until you feel comfortable with a family.
Have an exit plan — it's always okay to end a meetup early if you or your child is uncomfortable.

Red flags to watch for

Be cautious if another user:

Pressures you to meet quickly or share personal details before you're ready

Provides inconsistent or vague information about themselves or their family

Asks to connect outside PlayDates before meeting in person

Sends messages that feel inappropriate, pushy, or make you uncomfortable

Asks questions that seem focused on your children rather than family connection

Reporting a concern

If you encounter behavior that makes you uncomfortable or seems unsafe, please report it immediately. We take every report seriously and will investigate promptly.
